III. radix

radix means root. The third day — the day the ground was told to grow something.
From high enough up, a hand moving over a world and a hand moving a piece across a board look the same. From that distance you cannot tell whether anything is at stake.
The track opens on a synth ostinato and a piano line that answers it, both there before there was anything else to apply them to: a figure that repeats and refuses to develop, and a line that keeps circling back to it. A programmed beat arrives, then synth bass, over harmony borrowed from people who died a long time ago and had much firmer opinions than I do about how it ought to resolve. Then it clears, and there is only piano — the part I understand least and trust most.
The artwork is by Wanda.
It is the third of seven, and it is being released first. The game is not played in order.
